NFL Draft 2025: Shedeur Sanders Still Waiting to Hear His Name on Day 3
The 2025 NFL Draft has reached Day 3, and shockingly, Shedeur Sanders still hasn’t been picked.
Once projected as a top-five selection in many mock drafts, the former Jackson State and Colorado quarterback wasn’t drafted in Round 1 on April 24 — and the surprising slide continued through Rounds 2 and 3 on April 25.
Now the big question:
Will Shedeur finally be selected today during Rounds 4-7?
Here’s everything we know so far:
Has Shedeur Sanders Been Drafted Yet?
No — Shedeur Sanders remains undrafted after the first three rounds.
You can follow all the live draft news, picks, grades, and analysis through our NFL Draft Hub.
Why Hasn’t Shedeur Sanders Been Drafted?
Even some of the biggest NFL insiders are scratching their heads.
Before the draft, ESPN’s Adam Schefter warned that Sanders might fall out of the first round. Some reports suggest that his pre-draft interviews with teams didn’t go as well as expected.
There’s also the “Deion Sanders factor” — Shedeur has never played football without his father, Deion, on the coaching staff. That dynamic might make some teams hesitate.
Interest Is Still There:
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, at least one NFL general manager told him they are seriously considering drafting Shedeur today on Day 3. However, he didn’t reveal which team it was.
Where Could Shedeur Sanders Land?
The Las Vegas Raiders and Pittsburgh Steelers both have clear needs at quarterback, but at this point, any team looking for a talented backup could take a chance on Sanders.
Can Shedeur Sanders Return to College Football?
No. Once a player officially declares for the NFL Draft, NCAA rules prevent them from returning to college play.
Which Quarterbacks Have Already Been Drafted Before Shedeur Sanders?
Here’s the list of five QBs selected so far:
- Round 1:
- Cam Ward (Miami) — picked by the Tennessee Titans at No. 1 overall
- Jaxson Dart (Ole Miss) — picked by the New York Giants at No. 25
- Round 2:
- Tyler Shough (Louisville) — picked by the New Orleans Saints at No. 40
- Round 3:
- Jalen Milroe (Alabama) — picked by the Seattle Seahawks at No. 92
- Dillon Gabriel (Oregon) — picked by the Cleveland Browns at No. 94
The Buzz Around Shedeur: Even Donald Trump Weighed In
Shedeur’s draft slide has been talked about not just in sports circles but also by celebrities and politicians.
Former President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social before Round 2, saying:
“What is wrong with NFL owners? Are they STUPID? Deion Sanders was a great college football player and an even greater NFL star. He’s also a smart, streetwise coach! Therefore, Shedeur, his quarterback son, has PHENOMENAL GENES and is ready for greatness. He should be picked IMMEDIATELY by any team that wants to win. Good luck Shedeur — and say hello to your wonderful father!”
Bottom Line:
Shedeur Sanders still has the talent and pedigree. Now, we wait to see which NFL team finally decides to bet on him today.
