In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the rapper-turned-actor explained that his measure of a successful film is the impact it has on viewers, especially in terms of entertainment and cultural influence.

Reflecting on the success of his Friday franchise, which he both starred in and produced, Ice Cube shared, “The best part is hearing people laugh in the theater. Hearing how much they enjoy it.” He continued, “When people take lines like ‘Bye Felicia’ and use them in everyday life, that’s when a movie feels great to me. It’s not about the box office numbers; it’s about how many times people can watch it and still enjoy it.”

The Friday franchise, which started with the original Friday in 1995, continued with Next Friday in 2000 and Friday After Next in 2002. Fans have been eagerly awaiting another sequel, which is set to be released after nearly two decades.

When asked if he felt any pressure about returning to the franchise, Ice Cube confidently responded, “There’s no pressure because I’m working with the best in the business.”

The actor, who has built a reputation for blending comedy with real-life situations, added, “Every movie you make, you have to make it good and worth the audience’s time. People are spending their time and money, so it better be something they’ll enjoy. The fun comes from using current times, people, and personalities that bring out the humor.”

Ice Cube’s commitment to delivering laughs and creating memorable moments has been a key factor in the lasting success of his films, with his iconic lines and characters continuing to resonate with audiences long after their release.
