Wednesday Season 2 Release Schedule: When and How to Watch New Episodes
Jenna Ortega returns as Wednesday Addams in a darker, more twisted second season — but don’t expect all episodes at once.
Season 2 Overview
The much-anticipated second season of Wednesday officially launched on Netflix on August 6, 2025, with a new twist: instead of dropping the full season at once, the platform is rolling out episodes in two separate batches.
Following the wild success of its 2022 debut, Wednesday dives even deeper into the eerie underbelly of Nevermore Academy — and this time, the Addams family is taking center stage alongside the series’ sharp-witted heroine.

What’s New This Season?
Jenna Ortega, who returns as the famously stoic Wednesday Addams, shared in an interview with Elle Fanning that the new season leans further into horror elements. “The show’s always had that lighthearted monster vibe, but now we’re really embracing the darker themes,” Ortega said in Variety’s 2023 Actors on Actors series.
Romantic subplots are out — Ortega confirmed Wednesday won’t have a love interest this season — and in their place comes a more intense, psychologically twisted storyline. Big-name additions to the cast include Steve Buscemi, Hayley Joel Osment, and Lady Gaga, joining returning stars Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, and Emma Myers.
How Many Episodes Are in Season 2?
Season 2, like its predecessor, consists of eight episodes — but unlike season 1, they won’t all be available at once. Netflix is releasing the season in two waves:
August 6, 2025: Episodes 1–4
September 3, 2025: Episodes 5–8
So yes — fans will have to wait nearly a month for the conclusion of the season’s central mystery.
When Do New Episodes Release?
Episodes go live on Netflix at:
Midnight PT / 3:00 AM ET
This applies to both drop dates — so the second batch of episodes will be available early morning on Tuesday, September 3 (depending on your time zone).
What Can Fans Expect in Season 2?
According to co-creator Miles Millar, the story will twist expectations. “Wednesday thinks she knows Nevermore now. She’s returned on her own terms — but nothing unfolds the way she anticipates,” Millar teased in a July 2025 Tudum interview. “She believes she’s in control, but she’s not.”
The season kicks off with a chilling flash-forward: Wednesday trapped in a basement by her favorite childhood serial killer. From there, the story rewinds six weeks, introducing viewers to a disturbing doll modeled after Wednesday herself, gifted by Osment’s sinister new character.
Plus, in a major shift, the Addams family will be more deeply integrated into the season’s events, especially with Morticia, Gomez, and Pugsley visiting Nevermore Academy.
Will There Be a Season 3 or Spinoffs?
Good news for fans: Wednesday has already been renewed for a third season, as confirmed by Ortega and executive producer Tim Burton in a July 2025 interview with The Hollywood Reporter. And there’s more — discussions are underway for possible spinoff series based on other members of the Addams family.
Co-creator Alfred Gough hinted, “There are so many characters in this world worth exploring.” Netflix’s content chief Bela Bajaria added, “The Addams universe has plenty of untapped potential.”
Final Thoughts
With a staggered release schedule and a cast filled with both familiar and fresh faces, Wednesday Season 2 promises to deliver more suspense, supernatural intrigue, and twisted humor than ever before.
