Jason Isaacs Reveals Surprisingly Low Salary for ‘The White Lotus’ Cast

June 2025 – Veteran actor Jason Isaacs has opened up about the cast salaries on HBO’s hit series The White Lotus, shedding light on what he calls a “very low” per-episode paycheck.

Cast Received $40,000 Per Episode

During a recent interview, the 62-year-old actor — known for his role as Timothy Ratliffe in the third season of the popular anthology series — confirmed that he and his fellow cast members were each paid $40,000 per episode. Isaacs admitted he was surprised the number became public, adding:

“That’s absolutely true. Generally, actors don’t discuss salaries publicly because what we earn can seem absurd for what we do — wearing makeup and playing characters. It can upset people.”

 Isaacs Says Experience Didn’t Impact Pay

When asked whether it bothered him that he was earning the same amount as some less experienced co-stars, such as Patrick Schwarzenegger, Isaacs gave a humble response:

“Not at all. I don’t do this job for the money.”

The actor, also famous for portraying Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter franchise, emphasized that being part of a brilliant project like The White Lotus was more important to him than the paycheck. In fact, he jokingly said:

“We would have paid to be in it. We probably would have given a body part.”

Equal Pay Across the Board

Earlier, The White Lotus casting director Meredith Tucker and executive producer David Bernad also confirmed that all cast members received equal pay, regardless of experience or screen time. The production team reportedly aimed to create a sense of fairness and camaraderie among the ensemble.

A Role Worth More Than Money

While $40,000 per episode may seem significant, it’s notably less than what A-list actors typically earn on major TV series. Still, Isaacs says the artistic and creative value of working on The White Lotus made the experience more rewarding than any large paycheck.
