Eric Dane Breaks Silence on Reconnecting With Rebecca Gayheart Amid ALS Diagnosis

Hollywood actor Eric Dane has opened up about his emotional journey, including the rekindling of his relationship with estranged wife Rebecca Gayheart, while facing a serious health battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).

A Relationship Once Broken Finds Healing

In a heartfelt interview with Good Morning America’s Diane Sawyer, the Grey’s Anatomy and Euphoria star revealed how his bond with Rebecca has grown stronger in recent times. Although Rebecca filed for divorce in 2018, the couple sparked reconciliation rumors in March 2025, which Dane now confirms to be true.

The 51-year-old actor became visibly emotional while speaking about their renewed connection, especially in light of his health struggles.

“I call Rebecca. I talk to her every day,” he shared through tears.

 Stronger Together: From Divorce to Deep Friendship

Eric reflected on how the challenges they’ve faced — both personal and shared — have brought them closer, not just as co-parents but also as friends.

“We’ve managed to become better friends and better parents,” he said, describing Rebecca as his “biggest champion” and “most steadfast supporter.”

He emphasized how much he relies on her, especially now as he confronts a degenerative disease.

Facing ALS: Eric Dane Reveals Sobering Health Update

In April 2025, Eric Dane revealed he had been diagnosed with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. The actor shared that the illness has already caused complete loss of movement on his right side, and the left side of his body is now also weakening.

“It’s sobering,” Dane said. “Maybe a couple more months and I won’t have my left hand either.”
