Apparently, while attending Nevermore as a student,  Gomez was involved in the death of Garrett Gates  a local boy from Jericho. The case had been closed, but now it’s being reopened, and Gomez is arrested on suspicion of murder.

This revelation shakes Wednesday to the core. For the first time, the dark cloud of murder isn’t just part of her investigations—it’s part of her family’s legacy. But instead of shying away, she does what she always does: investigates.

 Wednesday Investigates the Garrett Gates Case

Determined to clear her father’s name—or prove his guilt—Wednesday begins to unravel the truth about the Garrett Gates incident. Using her sharp detective instincts and with help from Thing , she sneaks into the police archives and retrieves the old case files. What she finds is deeply suspicious.

The original reports claim that  Gomez stabbed Garrett in a fit of jealousy , as Garrett was reportedly obsessed with Morticia. However, as Wednesday pieces together timelines and motives, she begins to suspect that the real story is far more complicated.

She confronts  Morticia demanding to know what really happened. After an emotional standoff, Morticia finally tells the truth:  she was the one who accidentally killed Garrett Gates . He had broken into the school during the Rave’N Dance and attacked Morticia, driven by a  dangerous obsession and a vial of poison  that would have killed every student in the academy. During the scuffle, Garrett died after falling on his own weapon, and Gomez took the blame to protect Morticia.

 A Mother’s Confession and a Daughter’s Growth

This confession is a pivotal moment in Wednesday’s emotional journey. Angered by the injustice toward her father, Wednesday confronts Sheriff Galpin  accusing him of pursuing a vendetta against the Addams family. She presents the new evidence, including Garrett Gates’ toxicology report, which proves he was under the influence of poison that night and planned a mass attack on Nevermore students.

Faced with the truth, Galpin reluctantly drops the charges against Gomez, though his dislike for Nevermore and its students remains strong. The Addams family is reunited, and for the first time, Wednesday allows herself a  moment of emotional vulnerability , hugging her father and thanking her mother, albeit in her own stoic way.

 The Episode Ends with a Warning

As the Addams family prepares to leave Nevermore, Morticia shares one last piece of advice: trust your instincts, but don’t push away those who care for you. It’s a lesson Wednesday is beginning to learn, especially as she starts to accept Enid’s friendship and even shows signs of warmth toward Tyler.

But the peace doesn’t last. The final scene shows Xavier in the woods  covered in scratches, fueling Wednesday’s suspicions about his connection to the Hyde. Meanwhile, the creature itself is seen lurking in the shadows, and the mystery deepens.
