Virginia Giuffre — the courageous woman who publicly accused Britain’s Prince Andrew and Hollywood mogul Jeffrey Epstein of sexual abuse — has died by suicide at the age of 41, her family has confirmed.

In a powerful statement, her family said Virginia was a “fierce warrior in the fight against sexual abuse” and that “the toll of a lifetime of trauma became unbearable.” They shared that after surviving years of exploitation and fighting for justice, she sadly lost her battle with the emotional scars left behind.

Giuffre was among the first people to step forward and accuse Epstein and his former partner, Ghislaine Maxwell, of sex trafficking. She pushed hard for their prosecution — and eventually, Epstein was charged with sex trafficking in 2019. However, he died just weeks later in a New York jail, with officials ruling it a suicide.

Virginia also accused Prince Andrew of abusing her when she was just 17. She filed a lawsuit against him in 2021 in New York, which led to a settlement the following year. Part of the deal required Prince Andrew to make a “substantial donation” to a charity Giuffre founded to support other survivors of trafficking.

Following her courageous stand, Virginia became a global voice for survivors and played a major role in the Me Too movement.

Tragic Ending

Virginia, a mother of three, had been living on a farm in Western Australia. Police said they were called to her home on Friday night, where they found her unresponsive. Authorities have confirmed her death is not being treated as suspicious.

Just weeks before her death, Virginia revealed on Instagram that she had been involved in a serious car accident. She claimed she suffered kidney failure after crashing into a school bus and was told by doctors she had only four days to live. However, her family later said she hadn’t meant for the post to go public, and local police questioned how serious the crash actually was.

Virginia Giuffre fought an incredibly brave battle against some of the world’s most powerful figures. Her voice brought hope to countless survivors around the world. Even though she’s no longer with us, her fight for justice and truth will never be forgotten.
